DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Inside the left arcaded wing of Ca' Marcello there is the independent apartment called ‘La Barchessa’ (3860 sq ft), which even in the past was reserved to welcoming guests. It has 4 bedrooms (sleeps 8-9) and 3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, dining room and kitchen. Furniture and objects belonging to the family since 16th century, which have been conserved over the times, period paintings, objets d’arts and new matching furnishing create a warm and welcoming ambience. The guesthouse was restored and partially refurnished in 2004, the walls have original marble plaster surface and most rooms have parquet floor and plaster decorated ceilings, while the bathrooms are furnished with hand painted ‘Vietri’ tiles and high standard bath furniture.
Ground floor
Outside the entrance door there's a portico with tables and chairs, facing the Italian style garden and the Villa façade, perfect location for sunset dinners or just to chill and relax during the day. In the entry way, you find marble stairs that lead to the first floor.
First floor
On the left side of the landing there is a double bedroom with a queen bed and a bath en suite (tub/fixed shower head), private sitting room with sofa, writing-desk and wardrobe. The entire suite has exposed beam ceilings and windows overlook the porch of the villa’s wing. On the right side of the landing, you enter a hallway that leads to the dining room (with a table for up to 8 people) and a well-equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and toaster). Both the dining room and the hallway lead into the large living room, which has six windows on three sides and is furnished with a big sofa, two easy-chairs, four arm-chairs and a chaise lounger. This room is equipped with an open bar of spirits and liqueurs, TV, stereo CD and DVD player. Returning again to the landing, wooden stairs lead to the upper floor.
Second floor
At the end of the hallway along the wooden hand made balcony, three doors lead to the other bedrooms. The first is a double bedroom with a queen bed, writing-desk, three chairs and two chests of drawers. Passing the walk-through closet supplied with fitted cupboard, there is the en suite bathroom (tub/fixed shower head). The second door leads to a double bedroom with queen bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe and easy-chair. The third door leads to a sitting room with satellite TV and CD player, sofa and writing desk that leads to the last bedroom, a large room with twin beds, easy-chair, three chairs, wardrobe and two chests of drawers. These two bedrooms share a bathroom (tub/fixed shower head) which is reached through the sitting room. All the windows on the upper floor overlook the main Italian style garden and the villa’s façade.
WHY CHOOSING LA BARCHESSA AS YOUR HOLIDAY HOME
Outstanding setting
The Venetian villas are more than 4.000 houses, built between 1450 and 1700, and Ca’ Marcello is one of the few which is still lived by the original aristocratic family. In the main building there are fresco paintings, plaster worked walls, objects d’art and period furniture. The private park is 18 acres wide and is rich in centuries-old trees, statues, flower beds and other amenities. Going for a sunset stroll or for jogging in the early morning is like walking in heaven.
Position
Ca’ Marcello lays in the middle of the southern Veneto region. This means being a few minutes away from all major interesting destinations in the area: Venice (35 minutes by direct train), Padua (40 mins by car), Asolo (30 mins) aren’t far from the villa. Verona (90 mins), Bologna (2 hours) and other top destinations in Italy con be visited on daily tours.
Amenities and facilities
Air conditioning has independent climate control in every bedroom, a private fenced garden with swimming pool, gazebo, bbq set and other facilities is available at exclusive use of the guests. Several vegetables and spices can be freely took daily from the private kitchen garden. The kitchen is fully equipped and laundry service is provided by the owners. Dinners can be self-arranged by the guests or can be cooked by a private chef and served in the dining room, in the garden or everywhere the guests prefer.
Charming hospitality
Count Jacopo Marcello and his family are very welcoming and appreciate very much to let their guests be part of the house and its day-by-day life. During their stay, guests are usually accompanied by the owner through a private visit of the main house which ends with an aperitif together in one of the living rooms, to appreciate the real Italian lifestyle and to feel how living in such a beautiful place is like in modern times. The family deeply believes in the great difference between being guests and being clients, and the first one is the way they like people to feel while having their holiday here.
Concept and layout
La Barchessa is the only guesthouse in the whole villa, independent and perfectly positioned (in one of the arcaded wings, called ‘La Barchessa’), which even in the past was reserved to welcoming guests. The apartment was restored and partially refurnished in 2004, the walls have original marble plaster surface and most rooms have parquet floor and plaster decorated ceilings, while the bathrooms are furnished with hand painted ‘Vietri’ tiles and high standard bath furniture. All windows overlook the main Italian style garden and the villa’s façade.
Family history
The Marcello family has had a great role in Venice military, social and political history throughout the centuries, being one of the twelve most powerful families of the city. Traces of this history can be found everywhere in the house and, if you plan to visit Venice during your stay, don’t be surprised to see some Marcello’s court of arms, family members names or paintings in many places, museums or palazzos in town…
